The big rumour currently making the rounds is that the remake of S. A. Chandrashekar’s yesteryear blockbuster Sattam Oru Iruttarai has been shelved! The movie started in Vijay’s home banner Ghilli Films, featured ace actor Prabhu’s son Vikram Prabhu and Karthika in the lead. It had Reema Sen in a vital character role and Sneha, who is a close relative of SAC, debuting as the filmmaker. Sources say that in a recent development, the banner has been changed to JS Productions. Reports suggest that after completing a schedule in Pondichery, Vikram, who was not happy with SAC’s proxy direction as well as the change in the production house, left the project.

When SAC was contacted, he had a different tale to tell. “We signed Vikram Prabhu after he completed Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki, and he had also given the necessary dates to us. We even completed a schedule. Trouble started when we wanted to start our next! I was informed by Vikram’s spokesperson that the actor was required by Solomon since he had planned to reshoot the climax of Kumki. Vikram had a certain look and a beard for Kumki and reportedly, Solomon wanted him to grow a beard in the next one-and-a-half months and join him for the shooting. I was also informed that Solomon was not willing to compromise on an artificial beard.

Under these circumstances, I thought it pointless to wait indefinitely and decided to look for an alternative. Vikram Prabhu is not in the remake of Sattam Oru Kayil“ Asked whether he is considering Aadhi or Vishnu, he replied, “Yes, we are considering a few upcoming heroes, but I may go in for a debutant. At any cost, we are starting the project as planned on June 11.“

Reacting to the word `proxy’ direction, he says, “Is there anything wrong in guiding or supervising my own granddaughter (Sneha is his sister’s grand daughter)? After all, it is my own film that is being remade and today’s top directors including Shankar, Rajesh etc. were once my assistants.“

Now, the latest buzz according to a source close to Karthika, is that the Ko star may opt out if SAC brings a debutant hero on board. Several attempts to contact Vikram Prabhu and Prabhu Solomon were futile.
