Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru Movie Review

When it’s a cop story, it involves a much stereotypical plot, where we get to see a honest police officer hunting down the brutal murderers. So how does Karthi starrer Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru segregate it from such routine paradigms? The first intriguing thing that we happen to witness with the film is that an overloaded involvement and hard work by entire team. We see each and every actor are excessively indulged into the skin of their characterization. Leaving apart from the lead roles and well known faces of Tamil cinema, we see that Bollywood and Marathi actors have done a remarkable effort.

Theeran Thirumaran (Karthi) looks back into the glimpses of his most crucial case that he handled before years as a police officer. It involves a much a series of gruesome incidents that shocked the entire Tamil Nadu, which is based on real life incidents.

Watch out for the pre-intermission sequence, which is so much racy

Having said that the film is based on real life incidents, it’s not a complete biopic of any individual or a complete replica of records. The fictional element involves the inclusion of namesake romantic episodes between Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh, which doesn’t fit well with the film. Apparently, we develop a strong feeling that these portions could have been completely avoided. It nearly takes a hour for the actual premise of story to occur. But with the segments involving the investigation to trap the brutal criminals, the narrative aspects are substantially brilliant. Watch out for the pre-intermission sequence, which is so much racy and technically well presented too. The second hour gets loaded with too many chases and it could have been slightly trimmed.

The problem with Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru is that it confuses itself between romantic and thriller oriented portions. This is a kind of film that must strongly stick to duration of 2hrs, which would have kept the audiences edge-seated throughout the show. Karthi deserves a huge appreciation for giving his heart and soul into the project. We can sense his awe-inspiring work in each and every frame. Rakul Preet Singh does her best, but then her portions as abovementioned doesn’t fit well into this premise. Bose Venkat deserves special mention for his best spell. Abhimanyu Singh as the cold-blooded murderer is so much efficient with his role.

Director Vinoth had done an impeccable research work

Director Vinoth had done an impeccable research work and it is evident through the portrayal of policemen and how the department functions.

Cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan will win huge number of awards for his incredously astounding camera works. Especially, the second half that is shot across Rajasthan and North Indian regions re very well executed. The songs don’t grasp to our senses, but Ghibran excels with background score.

On the whole, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru presents us a raw and rustic incident that happened in our very own region, but we still remained unaware about. If the duration was kept limited within 120  minutes, the film would have really touched the pinnacle of top status. Nevertheless, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru deserves good appreciations for entire team’s hard work.
