UTV Motion Pictures today announced their next Tamil flick titled “Purampokku (No Man’s Land)” This film will star one of the leading actors of Kollywood, Arya and Vijay Sethupathi of Pizza, NKPK and Soodhu Kavvum Fame along with many others. This film will be shot across various locations in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh/Telengana and Chennai.
Director S.P.Jhananathan regarding the film says, “I am delighted to associate with Disney UTV in directing and producing this film. Both Arya and Vijay Sethupathi are acting in totally different roles not seen in Tamil cinema so far. Their characters will bring out the best acting talent in a new platform for both. The background to the film is unique like the name of the title and will be spoken about like my previous three films. He further explained that, though the title Purampokku is used colloquially to demean others, the word has deeper meaning and has historical importance. Mountains and snow peeks, poles, sea, desert all are Purampokku. Air, water, light, dark, even universe and the so called All Mighty are also Purampokku … i.e. common to the humanity. Purampokku word is commonly used to define Purampokku land, which does not belong to any single person but to the public at large.”
Director S.P.Jhananathan adds, “Our ancestors have left more than fifteen different types of Purampokku lands for various uses by the people (e.g. Lake Purampokku, river Purampokku, cemetery Purampokku etc.). All common facilities like schools and hospitals, govt. offices were constructed in these Purampokku lands by the Governments or local bodies. Such lands meant for the common use of the public are cornered illegally by powerful individuals in the recent past and the film takes up this issue strongly in a commercial format like my earlier films”

Ekambaram will be cranking the camera and the editing will be taken care by V.T.Vijayan and the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalized. This film will be written and directed by National Award winner Director S.P.Jhananathan of Peranmai fame. This project will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures in association with S.P.Jhananathan’s Binary Pictures. The project is currently in pre-production and will go on floors in October/November 2013 and the release is planned for April/May 2014.
