Jai talks about upcoming projects, friends and life away from the glare of stardom I have been wanting to act in an action flick for quite some time now. I am glad this opportunity came by. He made heads turn with his performance in Chennai 28 and in Subramanyapuram he was the center of attention. Actor Jai, who has been in the industry for a decade now, is one of the most sought after actors after landing several big projects in his kitty.
“Before I took up acting no one had faith in me. Today everything has changed for the good,“ says Jai who is just back from shooting the first portion of Vettai Mannan.
He is acting with one of his closest friends STR in Vettai Mannan, which is directed by Nelson. Jai says, “I have been wanting to act in an action flick for quite some time now. I am glad this opportunity came by .I play a gangster in the film and the role was very refreshing and different from my previous ones.“
Jai and STR’s friendship dates back to the year 2002 when the two of them got to know each other through the industry . Ask him about his friends in the film fraternity and he says, “I didn’t have too many friends when I was in school. It was only after I became an actor that I made some really good friends, including STR and Vaibhav. The people I hang out with are folks that I have known for 10 years now. I know they will never let me down.“ On dealing with peer pressure and competition Jai asserts, “My friends are very encouraging. Some feel that competition gets the better of friendship. In my case, however, I am lucky to be around people who have always wanted the best for me!“ Rumours were rife that Jai and Anjali were dating during the filming of Engeyum Eppodhum, but Jai says that he is not smitten by anybody. “Be it Swathi or Anjali, I have always maintained cordial relationships with my co-stars and there has never been anything beyond that.” Having scaled great heights thanks to his soaring career, Jai is now leading the good life. He says, “I just moved to a new house and when I am not shooting I like to take-off on getaways with my close group of friends.” Apart from Vettai Mannan, for which Jai will be travelling to Brazil soon, Jai is also acting in Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum, directed by Prem Sai.
