By now we must have studied the reason behind Thalaivaa’s delay. The next film going through controversy is Madras Cafe. They both fall into the same category ‘Politics’. Thalaivaa delay was caused due many lame reasons, but the verdict turned out to be the removal of the tag line ‘Time to Lead’ will allow the film to be released in TN. Ok, tag removed; can the film be released now? Yes. Beginning of 2013 Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam also went through controversy, but it was for different reason. Vishwaroopam faced a two-week ban in Tamil Nadu due to protests held by Muslim community saying it has portrayed Muslims poorly and thus “hurt their sentiments.”After agreeing on certain changes to the content, the film was released and it received tremendous response. At present Tamil communities are protesting against ‘Madras Cafe, the question here is will same rule be applied? Will they ban or delay the film until both parties comes to a conclusion?
What is Madras café about and why does it have opposition?
Madras Cafe is an upcoming Indian political espionage thriller film starring John Abraham, Nargis Fakhri and Rashi Khanna in lead roles. It is being directed by Shoojit Sircar and the film is set in the late 80s and early 1990s, during the time of Sri Lankan civil war and the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The film is going through controversy and ‘Naam Thamizhar’ Tamil activist group wanted a ban on the movie for reportedly portraying Libeation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in a bad light.
Verdict:
Beyond all these controversy and opposition, the film is all set to be released in TN on August 23rd. what does not make sense is why a political thriller ‘Madras Cafe which has many opposition is allowed to be screened in TN area where majority of the Tamils are residing and a non-political Tamil film ‘Thalaivaa’ was not allowed? Not fair is it?
What could be the reason behind Madras Cafe getting green signal?
01. John Abraham is not into politics
02. Certain parties/group will give full support to the film as it has nothing against them
What could be the reason behind Thalaivaa getting red signal?
01. Vijay is a Tamilan
02. Vijay has intention of going into politics
03. The TN government may be afraid of a star that is showing little sign of emerging into politics.
Conclusion: No good reason is provided for a Ban/Delay. Politics are being involved in Cinema!
TN is afraid of vj’s mass and his enterance to politics can make a big impact.
