Prabhu Deva starrer Mercury based on true incidents?
Prabhu Deva’s Mercury has been the talk of town for one big reason. The film being credited as Silent Thriller, which has been a genre of rarity turns to be cynosure. Moreover, the teaser of this film released recently has created an impact. It indirectly signifies that the movie is based on true incidents. In the teaser, we find a particular shot where Memorial stone is found. It reads, “In Loving memory of 84 people who died during Mercury poisoning in 1992”. It is evident that the film is set against the backdrops of hill station. Apparently, it gives an almost clear picture that same incident occurred in Kodaikanal during 1982, where Mercury poisoning killed many people. This is just a reference that we can find and there hasn’t been any official word on this from ‘Mercury’ team.
When it comes to the teaser, the Sound department and cinematography are the greatest attractions. It also gives us the faint memories of Hollywood’s ‘Don’t Breathe’. But then, Karthik Subbaraj wouldn’t be someone, who will be going with such a blatant remake or copycat.
For now, Mercury teaser kindles in us the higher state of inquisitiveness to watch the entire show. The film is scheduled for release on April 13 for the festive occasion of Tamil New Year.
