The latest in the industry is that Venkat Prabhu has finalized the leading lady of his next with Karthi, titled Biriyani. After considering several names, including Samantha, Ileana and Parineeti Chopra, the director has finally roped in Richa Gangopadhyay.
A source close to the director confirms, “Venkat has been working on the plot of the film, and with the final script in place, he has now got a clear picture of who he wants in the lead. While several names had been considered, he has zeroed in on Richa. The film will be a suspense thriller, laced with humour, and she will fit the bill. However, formalities haven’t been completed yet.”
A thrilled Richa tells, “Patience is a virtue and I’m glad the wait has been worth it. I play atypical girl in it; someone who’s mischievous and not-so innocent. My character is totally involved with the plot.” Interestingly, Richa was supposed to be part of the director’s previous venture, Mankatha as well.
The source adds, “Venkat wants to go on floors with the project by July 14, and work is on in full swing. Yuvan Shankar Raja has already started working on the tunes, and pre production is almost over. Richa is likely to join the team in the first week of August.”
Regarding this when asked Richa, She tweeted “okay okay fine, so i’ll tell you now…. next up for me…*fanfare*: Venketprabhu’s ‘Biryani’ with Karthi in Tamil/Telugu, and Veerabhadram’s ‘Bhai’ with Nagarjuna in Telugu. #happyhappy #worththewait”
