I rejected Vada Chennai offer when Simbhu came onboard – Dhanush
The entire team of Vada Chennai was found in Cloud nine over completing its long phase of shooting. With their magnum opus hitting screens on October 17, the crew happened to interact with the media channels this morning (October 10). During this juncture, Dhanush openly confessed about how Vetrimaaran and he planned up for Vada Chennai and the offer that came when STR got onboard for it.
“Soon after Polladhavan, myself and Vetrimaaran decided to go for Vada Chennai, but he felt that it is not the right time to put it. So we proceeded with Aadukalam following which we wanted to make a film titled ‘Soodhaadi’ (Gambler), which was shelved. After few years, Vetrimaaran once called me up and said he wants to make the film with STR in lead role. I happily said okay, but then came an offer that I never expected. Vetrimaaran asked me if I could play the role that is now actually performed by Ameer. Of course, I rejected Vada Chennai offer when Simbhu came onboard for the title role. I openly confessed saying that “Sir, I am a down-to-earth person, but not to such a greater extent. I am also a human and have my own values. It happened that after sometime, Vada Chennai got shelved and Vetri approached me again for the title role. Eventually, I decided not to go for it immediately as the buzz that Dhanush replaces STR would turn out to be a hassle. So we waited for the right time and now we are happy that the first part has been shaped up very well,” said Dhanush .
Furthermore, the National award winning actor said, “We will start working our new film before Vada Chennai 2 by next week. Around 80% of the second part is already with us and would be resuming the shoot by next year.”
