Why Kollywood heroes have toast with ‘Double cheers’ in 2019?
2018 wasn’t any exception as it happened to be the only year after a very long time to have the releases from almost all the Kollywood heroes. From Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Kaala, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 to Vishal and Jayam Ravi, it was a big year indeed. Of course, 2019 seemingly repeats the same magic as Superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta has wowed the audience. While Vijay’s tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 63’ is scheduled for Diwali 2019 release, other actors have ‘Double releases’.
Starting off with Ajith Kumar, his ‘Viswasam’ was a blockbuster and his next release ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ is scheduled for August 10, 2019 release. Suriya has already set his greatest engraving of excitements among his fans with Selvaraghavan’s NGK on May 31, 2019 and Kaappaan on August 30, 2019. Vikram’s Kadaram Kondan will make the official announcement on its release soon and his long delayed Dhruva Natchathiram directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon will have its release soon as well. Sivakarthikeyan’s Mr. Local is hitting screens on May 31, 2019 and tentatively titled SK 14 might be a December release. Vijay Sethupathi’s Petta and Super Deluxe were predominantly multi-starrers. His solo release in lead role titled Sindhubad is ready for release on May 16 and his other expected films are with Mamanithan and SP Jhananathan’s untitled film.
Karthi’s Dev didn’t perform well in box office, but his upcoming films like Kaidhi directed by Maanagaram fame Lokesh Kanagaraj looks promising. His other movies are untitled Rom-Com directed by Remo fame Bhagyaraj Kannan, Karthi 21 with Jeethu Joseph and one more film is scheduled for release in 2019. Vishal’s untitled film with Sundar C is slated for June 2019 release and tentatively titled Irumbu Thirai 2 might be a December release. Dhanush has lined up Vetrimaaran’s Asuran, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thota and Sathya Jyothi Films’ Production No.34 directed by Durai Senthil Kumar. Jayam Ravi is working with Kajal Aggarwal in a film produced by Vels Film International that will be wrapped up by this month. He is expected to team up with some big names as well. Moreover, his Adanga Maru released on December 21, 2018 is almost close to this year release records.
STR’s Vandha Rajavathaan Varuven released in February 2019 bombed in box office. Although, there are reports that he will start shooting for Venkat Prabhu’s Maanadu in May 2019, there are no reports officially affirmed on it.
